The Longevity of Lena Land Books

January is known to slowly drag into February, kicking and screaming about the wretched winter weather and the beginning of a year full of the unknown.  Here, at Lena Land Books we are kicking off the New Year at the same speed and with the same ferocity as if 2011 never ended.
For 2012 author Lena Williamson will be releasing the much-anticipated children’s book First Day of School Blues.  At the same time Williamson is still working on Century of the Centaur, a work of fantasy fiction for tweens and teens.  Another title to look out for from this author is When Angels Bleed, a novel that will delve into the world of romance, love and the shroud of secrecy that surrounds domestic abuse in relationships.
Unfortunately one of LLB’s long awaited titles, All in A Day’s Work will be released under an independent author, J.D. Kennedy.  However, Lena Land Books supports and respects J.D. and is as excited as everyone else to read about the seedy, dark side of PR.
For Lena Land Books and author Lena Williamson, 2012 promises to be a year full of creativity, productivity, laughter and love.  What else do you need for the recipe for success?

Occupy Wall Street and then Occupy the World

In recent months demonstrations against government have been popping up world wide.  From Syria to Libya, New York to New Jersey, the public is actively expressing its disgust toward its leaders who not only enforce outdated laws, policies and procedures but control the purse strings too.  What the public at large are communicating is more than a show of lawlessness or anarchy, collectively from the East side of the world to the West, North and South we are saying we are tired of working long days while still earning the wages we were making five years ago at the same time Chief Executive Officers, Presidents, Vice Presidents and the Chairmen of the Board who do nothing more than move money around and play golf all day give themselves raises every six months.  We are sick to our empty stomachs of seeing Politicians, Bankers, Actors/Actresses and people famous for doing nothing traipse around flashing their wealth and status while the 99% of the population continue to struggle trying to put food on the table and clothes on our backs.  Karl Marx has been dead and buried since the late 1800s and yet his theories regarding our capitalistic society still ring true today.  As long as the “dictatorship of the bourgeoisie” remains in its current state of the rich getting richer while the poor get destructively desperate there is no other course of action available other than taking to the streets in protest.  History is clearly repeating itself but the question is what will we learn this time?
"The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles." (Karl Marx)

  • "The proletarians of the world have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win. Workers of all countries: Unite!" (Karl Marx, 1818)
  • “The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them.”(Karl Marx, 1818)
Karl Marx (German political Philosopher and revolutionary, 1818-1883)

The Future of Lena Land Books is Dependent on the Present Situation of the World

As a writer the world tends to be my muse, inspiring compassion, anger and truth seeking.  My latest books are inspired by my love for children and controversy.
I am currently working on both adult and children’s fiction.  All in a Day’s Work will fall under fiction as a tragicomedy revolving around the daily grind of a Public Relations office in New York City.  The themes I am exploring in All in a Day’s Work are sexism, racism and classicism in the work place.  Each of these issues are relevant and a staple in today’s society.
On a lighter note, I just completed my fourth children’s book titled First Day of School Blues, which follows a little kid along the journey of the dreaded first day back to school or being in a new one .  My stories whether for children or adults are grounded in reality and based on everyday people.

Author of the Month

Author Lena Williamson is featured in From A Writers POV magazine, one of the best online magazines and  print for the month of September.  Just last month A Diamond in the Rough was featured as Ebook of the Month.  As this authors continues to shine so does Lena Land Books.

FAWPOV:  Why did you decide to become a published author?
After writing the last line of my first book, A Diamond in the Rough I knew that I did not want it to just sit on a shelf collecting dust and I already knew of a family friend who was using the self publishing service Lulu.com so I decided to take a chance and share my work with the public.

FAWPOV: What is your motivation as an author/writer?
My motivation is knowing I have stories to share, ideas to express and a few decades of experience to pass on to future generations, my son included.  Life motivates me, love motivates me and talent sustains me.
FAWPOV: Who/What is your support system?
My support system, which I am fortunate to have, consists of my mother who is unwavering in her love and my personal in-house critic.  My son, who inspires me to imagine more, create more and bring originality to whatever I do.  My significant other also pushes me to dream bigger and reach for the stars.  Without them I would not be as grounded as I am today.
FAWPOV: What is your writing process?
My writing process begins with a can of Pepsi, a pen and a notepad.  I prefer peace and quiet but sometimes ideas flow in while I am on the train, on the bus, even walking to the grocery store.  I write as the ideas come, I do not like to force myself to write anything.  As a writer I am not only concerned with getting the words down or finishing a chapter, I believe reading, editing and rewriting are just as important as each chapter.  Before I can begin a story I make sure to do two important things; make an outline of the story and create character profiles.  Without these two basic steps in writing, my story has no direction or meaning.  Once all of these aspects are in place I can release the dozens of ideas that continuously play out in my head.

FAWPOV: What's next for you? Any events?
I am currently working on my third fiction book titled All in a Day’s Work.  This book will be a little more comical than my previous works.  It will also have an element of suspense.  I am knee deep in the writing, editing and rewriting process.  I do not have any events planned for 2011 but I look forward to attending several book fairs in 2012.

FAWPOV: What advice would you have for other authors?
Good luck and please be honest with yourself as far as success is concerned.  Please do not publish one book and think that you are a literary genius.  Educate yourself on the basics of grammar, use outlines before penning your novel and create realistic characters.  For poets, don’t be afraid to use imagery and descriptive words and most of all write from the heart.
